Sami Siida was started in Øvre Alta in 2002. In the winter, they spend time with the reindeer on the Finnmark plateau and in the summer they come down to the coast with the reindeer herd. The family has been in the reindeer herding business for generations and started Sami Siida to offer Sami cultural education to those who want it.

Sami Siida is run by a Sami family and offers various activities and experiences related to Sami culture, reindeer herding, and the Arctic environment. The company aims to promote and preserve the Sami culture, traditions, and way of life. Sami Siida in Alta also has a traditional lavvu (Sami tent) where visitors can experience a Sami meal, storytelling, and traditional joiking (Sami singing).
